update 2025 Feb 14 : PIVI PRO 4.2.2 and 4.3.0
update 2025 Jan 31 : JLR bulletin N959 - EPIC CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE UPDATE : You need to check the JLR topix website with your VIN to see if your car is affected.
update 2024 Dec 2 : PIVI PRO 4.2.1 and 4.2.1_
update 2024 Oct 4 : adding the official Land Rover website : SOFTWARE UPDATES + PRODUCT RECALL SEARCH + Vehicle software update N912 Sep 25
I am starting a new discussion on the updates distributed by the SOTA process in the form of update packages for the car modules (mainly versions 3 and 4) and concerning Pivi Pro for the most visible part.
Complete history from August 2021 to today (version 2, 3 and 4) : Pivi Pro Release Notes Archives - OVALNEWS.com - Always fanatical; Occasionally interesting Land Rover & Range Rover News and the official Land Rover website : SOFTWARE UPDATES
To help you determine which version you have :
Note 1 : Downloading your country's maps and live apps does not use the same method as downloading SOTA update packages.
The first two can work very well while SOTA cannot download updates.
Note 2 : if the live apps versions no longer appear, you must reboot Pivi Pro with the volume button pressed for 20 seconds when the car is stopped, either with 4G at least one bar or Wifi.
(for MY24 : Hold down the telephone on the steering wheel to reboot Pivi Pro)
This allows you to reconnect all accounts, connected navigation, etc.
You must wait 4 or 5 minutes after the reset. This also allows you to force the reconnection of Spotify and TuneIn when leaving an underground garage without 4G in some cases.
If your TCU (Telematics control unit module) is not working correctly (no update with SOTA), you must ask your dealer to update it to the latest version because the TCU cannot be updated by SOTA itself and also request an update of all other modules because like the TCU there are others that SOTA does not take care of (there are around 42 modules in the evoque (1) and some are sensitive and can be updated only by the service center)
Here is an example of a JLR bulletin N795 (19 June 2023) that involves the telematics module blocking the SOTA process and requiring an update by the JLR service center :
https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2023/MC-10239026-0001.pdf
You can consult the Land Rover website PRODUCT RECALL SEARCH
Important warning: If your dealer updates some of your modules, the version update will only be done when SOTA carries out an update to synchronize its version. For example, if you are in 3.3.2 and certain modules have already reached version 4.0.0 thanks to the update by your dealer, you will have to wait for SOTA to update to 4.0.0
Here are some details on how the car behaves when SOTA has downloaded a package and you have agreed to run the update process: (read the official Land Rover website SOFTWARE UPDATES)
To find out if everything is going well, immediately launch the downloaded SOTA update without waiting and get out of your car by locking it (preferably at your home or at your well-parked resort).
You wait 10 minutes next to the car and around the eleventh minute the car will wake up.
You will see lights come on ON the dashboard as well as the P parking light on the gear lever. There will probably also be some ventilation noises coming from the engine.
If the update does not start because the conditions are not satisfactory (such as the 12v battery too low or the high voltage battery < 25% for a P300e/P270e) then the car turns off in less than a minute otherwise the update starts and it lasts between 20 minutes and 1h20 minutes then the car turns off and you can go inside to see that the version has changed.
For more details on the sequence:
Usually the evoque wakes up and turns on the red Parking light P to indicate that it is performing the checks then it runs the updates and the P parking light goes off. This lasts for at least 20 minutes and the car seems dead. It then finishes with a final check of the update to update the version and during this time the P parking ligh button is lit again then finally everything goes off. The inControl Remote application reports information in the security section 《 check details 》 in red, indicating that the update is complete and that you can drive your car.
