Hi
Wife's car had turbo making a lot of noise this am...
Restricted performance light came on...but we had to get to airport so kept going...

Power was reducing....then splurge of white smoke. Pulled over an called AA...

Checked engine oil whilst waiting....appears dry !!! No warning re oil came up on dash. Assuming turbo was going and suddenly gave in sucking oil put...

Any one experience anything like this...whats best option to check turbo when it's recovered home !

Cheers

Thanks for feedback.
There was no low oil warning at any point...does evoque actually have this ???

Charging battery today so I can run some diagnostics....will then remove turbo ....and keep fingers crossed that damage is only turbo !!

Any diy how to remove turbo ??

Cheers

Managed to start it and get it in my garage...noise + from around turbo.

Have started stripping it down...there is oil in intercooler pipes n intercooler.

Need to figure out how to get to bolts holding turbo heat shield...think I need to remove firewall to get access.

I can look into turbo...there is a lot of oil...used a 3/8 extension to touch centre of turbo blade....there is a lot of play in it.

Hopefully get it removed tomorrow...

Remove firewall and disconnected ecu which makes more space. Removed egr and charge hose...but i need a socket to remove the exhaust sensor....still struggling to get to lower turbo case cover bolts, oil return and turbo bolts..

Any suggestions gratefully received

Found someone who can refurb turbo in dundalk for around 350 euro.

One nut, which is rounding left on turbo:mad:

It's been a pig of a job...with so limited access to the fittings. ..the workshop manual info helped but doesn't tell you size of nuts etc...and had to remove extra items to be able to move the dpf over....

Fingers crossed I can get last nut of turbo flange.

Hi

That's my concern...what caused it...!!

It's 2016 2.0d ingenium engine...75k.
Wife's car not use hugely...but at least once per fortnight I take it on a long trip.

There is no oil in intercooler...some in charge air pipe.

I'll take a look at egr ...see if its blocked too.

Never had a car with so many "major" problems....so disappointed with the car that I persuaded her to get..

Cheers

So...

Been starting the car daily....letting it tick over...and just giving it some revs and seemed ok...temperature stable etc. Drove bqck n forth on driveway...ok.

So today just took it for a drive only for few hundred yards....huge plumes of white smoke ....no warning lights and no fault codes...

Could this be due to burning off any excess oil in exhaust after thr turbo failed...or what ???

Any ideas

Cheers

Hi
Thanks for feedback....just checked coolant, all ok..engine oil ok. Started car and seemed fine again...revved.it to around 3k ...then engine just started racing.....switched off anf thankfully stopped....

Does this add any info as to issue ???

Cheers

Spoke to a few mechanics...they are all saying the same....engine ljkely to be damaged...they all recommend a replacment engine....which with labour comes in at around 10k...but surprisingly they said they wouldnt gaurantee as likley to breakdown again....one had seen 6 ingeniums where turbo had gone and each required engine...

Consensus was if it was theirs they would scrap it....so gonna take their advice ....nit happy !!!
