...As you bought the car from a LR dealer in April this year, is it not covered by the 2 Year LR Approved Used Warranty? If so, this should be covered.
We'll have to wait for Sharefe to say what warranty they got.

The '2 Year Approved' warranty is only for vehicles under 5 years old. And I think there's a 100,000 mile clause as well...

Shame as you were on the M40 I could have recommended a place a few miles off from Banbury

Sounds like the electrics went taking out the engine, not simply the cam belt failed?

Have you consdered if your insurance will pay, we've used this method when one of our cars suffered a major Air Conditioning failure.

Really feel 4 you Mate,

Having a timing Belt go on the Motorway, is the worst case scenario that you could possibly have....Coupled with an Expensive marquee like the EVOQUE & I'm not surprised ˜± on why it's £12,000.....

You have a very Big decision to be made, Don't know what an 11-Plate EVOQUE with 105K Miles on the Clock is worth,

Is it worth £12,000? Would you get your Monies worth?

Was it bought on a PCP or Cash's/other Finance Deal....

If Finance, maybe consider walking away from the Deal? Or try getting them involved.....

You say that lookers recommended leaving the Timing Belt to 120K? Was that a verbal recommendation or have you got it in writing? What sort of warranty did it come with?

Important thing is to not rush into any decisions that you may regret.....

It's official.

Good afternoon,

Here is an email with the costings of the replacement land rover engine

Land Rover engine comes with a 2 year parts and labour warranty.

A retail price I had given to you of £12000.00 inc has been discounted and authorised by my head of business.

We can give 7% discount on all parts included with the engine replacement and drop the labour rate from £135 + VAT to £100 + VAT

This is a 17.4 hour job £1740.00 + VAT ( £2088.00 inc )

Engine replacement £6975.00 + VAT (£8370.00 inc VAT ) (includes discount and all relevant parts and fluids )

Total price £10458.00 inc VAT

Battery and secondary battery invoice is at £590.00 inc VAT ( I have removed investigation and cut down labour )

Total all together £11048.00 inc VAT

I have talked to my HOB & MD as they need to authorise this cost and set the deposit figure ""“ This figure would be £7000.00 inc which would leave a figure of £4048.00 inc once the job is completed.

This can be paid bank transferred as most people do on an amount this much

As discussed we would look to have completed for 2nd week of January.

After exploring all options and price checking this will be the most cost effective way with the best long term warranty.

Please call me if any questions are needed or I am always on my email.

Kind regards

I didn't get a warranty as the car was over 5 years old. They do not provide one from LR.
All this will have to come out of my pocket.
I have contacted LR and they are not even want to open a case.
I have emailed lookers service manager John for him to send me all services done to the car and ref the advise of 120,000 miles timing belt change.

Btw LR are saying 120,000 miles is a "recommendation" and not a strict rule of service for the change of timing belt. Kiren the first point of contact of LR customer service.

Sorry to hear that - I had guessed you might be out of luck with the warranty at that age.

If it was me then I think I would be looking for a used engine - but I'm guessing this might not be too easy. Either way I would also use a decent specialist LR garage rather than a dealership.

Not good though!

EDIT: A quick search on Ebay shows a number of garages offering a recon engine, supply and fit for around £2,600. Might be worth investigating...

I think anything with a rubber band needs changing at 75k. The service on that engine is 120k but there could be oil contamination. As for £700 for 2 batteries! Thanks just bonkers. I would insist they take them back as that was not the problem as they have misdiagnosed the problem, who are They employing down there primary children?

Here's one in London. No idea whether they are good or bad though.

But happy to do so if required.

Thank you for the offer I appreciate it, but I have arranged for mkl engineer to take the car from north one tomorrow. They have good testimonials on YouTube and Facebook from previous customers.

Bad!

Checking through companies house, one of the directors of that company was also a director of Jap engines uk Ltd. Now dissolved. I could only find one review of them. https://www.yelp.co.uk/biz/jap-engines-barking

Oh, here is a thread in a forum about them. Some interesting stories. https://www.driftworks.com/forum/threads/global-engines-gearboxes-barking-issue.216922/

And another. http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/replacement-engine-global-engines-80614.html

Hence why I suggested the LR magazine for info.

The magazine has been running for years and covers all models so they must have had garages who recondition or replace engines before now.
