Hi I have range rover evoque 2017 70k miles, had to put 4l of engine oil top up despite recent service on feb with just 4k miles. When I diagnosed they said they found piston cooling het fault code P2SA9-13. Could I ask if any one good tell me how much this can cost to repair in showroom or should I look to repair in other garage for cheap. Thanks in advance

Not sure if this will help as not sure if its the same issue or not (experienced mechanics/members please chip in) but when I got mine my Thermostat needed replacing and they advised that the Piston Coooling Solenoid should be replaced at the same time .... That cost me ÂŁ600 at a JLR Indie

Hi As I said I'm not certain if it's the same issue that I had but I had no engine warning lights on. If you don't have any warning lights lit then I guess you would be ok but if you do then you need it seeing to asap.

I found this YouTube video that shows the fault code and replacing the component (Again if same as you are experiencing)

Mines currently in the garage having a new timing chain fitted, Just under 70k miles and they are also replacing the NOX sensor and piston cooling jet solenoid. The part is about ÂŁ140 but not sure how much fitting is.

Luckily I have JLR extended warranty and it's all been approved.

I have been given quote of 1000ÂŁ for repair parts itself is ÂŁ133 labour charge 185ÂŁ/hr. But I am worried if despite repair I had been told by one of the mechanic at other than the range rover garage told me that engine can go off at any time as he mentioned 4l of engine oil refill is unsusual with just piston problem. So I am bit scared now. Not sure if fixing this will solve all the problem with engine.

I would say it definitely needs checking and soon. Maltings 4x4 told me they have seen failed cooling jets and it can seize the engine.
Maybe worth getting a price that it would cost you and adding it to what you can get from WBAC or Motorway or somewhere and see if it is worth selling or repairing. It may be the better option as a private owner.

Merci d'avance.
