The egr gasket can get clogged up if the DPF has not been doing its job properly and soot goes back up to the EGR.
The gasket itself is quite cheap but it is a bit of a pain to change.

The faulty temperature sensor will be preventing the DPF from doing a regen.
It is relatively cheap and easy to change if you can get under the car. It may be that the wire has snapped as JLR designed it very poorly with the wires extremely tight between the connector and sensor. This happened to mine, so I repaired and extended the wire by a few inches.

Thanks for the reply rawpilot. Clearly the garage are not JLR RR experts as they suggested not changing the sensor until the gasket is changed. I will see if I can get the sensor changed first. Fingers crossed repairing the sensor helps improve the situation.
The EGR filter will need changing at the same time, as once it is clogged there is no chance of it clearing itself.

The garage suggested 8 hours of labour to change a ÂŁ20 EGR filter and gasket. Hence my asking for any guidance, thanks again.
8 hours is way too long.
My garage did it in 2 hours for ÂŁ138.
Tell them it can be done from underneath the car, rather than having to pull everything out from the top.
