2011 petrol Evoque 1999 cc.

I had a brake light failure on the driver's side, and read somewhere that it might be the fault of the BCM. The advice was to disconnect the battery and connect the two loose wires to completely discharge the BCM so as to reset it. Which I did, then reconnected the cables to the battery.

The car allowed me to open the driver's door, but when I attempted to start the engine it flashed the error "smart key not present", or some such message. After a flurry of activity on the dashboard the car is now completely unresponsive and the doors won't lock (not really a problem atm). I changed the little batteries on the two smart keys but no dice.

Any suggestions, please?

I’d try battery off and back on making sure all tight
Might need a battery pack (jump start )
Try charging battery all night if no.pack to start , if you have a gtech charger they have a reconditioned setting that resets the battery so to speak
Hopefully it will work again with one of the above
Check the fuses as you may have blown something
