It was all my doing, I just googled evoque 2.2 timing chain, first result was from this very forum and its where I found the picture, apparently it has a belt and a chain, couldn't believe myself till i saw the pic

 

You only change the belt though - never the chain! AFAIK, its changed at 10 years/150,000 miles.

 

Wish I had my timing chain on BMW 3 series M-Sport changed which broke at 42.000 costing 6812.00 not that I remember 6 years ago

 

But is there a difference between the TD4 and the SD4 engine?

Other than the turbo set up.

It is. Same kit 2006-2014 so TD4 and SD4 Plenty of quality kit's on the 'Bay including the pump for around 90 quid.

 

Is this the same duratorque engine fitted to the transit? I had a chain snap on a works van once at 80mph on the M1, needless to say it wasn't good

 

Its a similar engine, but there are 2 variants which have developed seperately, the Transit has a chain, we have a belt.
