Since my wife purchased her 2105 Evoque We have had a number of people saying you should have bought a more reliable car would not touch it etc,
And if you get a warranty they are not worth the paper they are written on
At the end of the day my wife chose the car because she liked the look of it and has always wanted one
On the forum or have been advised we should get a warranty and I've looked into it and so far the RAC (ALA) warranty looks quite good.
Can anyone give advice on what warranties you have taken out on your Evoque’s and the best one to have for the car

Many thanks

David

Hi, I decided to take out LR's extended warranty:

Donna recently went with Warranty Direct:

I have the LR extended warranty, which I took out just before the 3 year warranty ran out. But, if your LR normal warranty has run out, they have to inspect the car first - several £100s - just ask Donna!

Only real issue I've had is a replacement passenger door latch, which was under the extended warranty earlier this year (with no quibble from the dealer).
Other than that, the car has been perfect for the last 5 years.

Hi DetailingDriven,

it's easy to read negatives and assume the car will be scrap after 5 minutes. People only highlight negatives and wont be on here singing the cars praises. DO get a warranty, just because like all cars, they can and do go wrong and can be expensive to repair.

Like Claybuster above, the Evoque does often have little issues such as boot misalignments, camera fogging up etc so its better to be protected :)

Hi I did the warranty direct one, pressed all the options... cavers all the expensive bits and bobs , also covers media etc not sure Landrover does , and it also covers DPF if a forced regen can’t be done.... Landrover does not and this is a known problem ... you also if you choose unlimited repair cost can get it repaired at main dealer , so I if it goes wrong will take it to Landrover anyway because I choose no hourly rate cap .... think it was £470ish before I got discount think might of been NHS.....also had a letter through and they pay for your MOT as well..will be at a certain garage I think.... so it’s roughly half the price and no £170 pre inspection to pay.....
And no I’m not on any commission...... but if you’re reading warranty direct I should be

Just for correctness if people looking at warranties read this :)

As I read things, it's not a 'forced regen' which is something that can be carried out via s/w connected to the OBD port, but a DPF clean carried out at the owners expense by a specialist DPF cleaning company.

DPF flush clean maybe hmmmuk ... start at £85 they now advertise this at Halfords... wether this would work on a evoque I do not know but the cleaning in low hundreds the replacement DPF in the £1000s worst case scenario .... probably why those clever guys at Landrover extended warranty decided to make it clear it’s not covered ....full stop.
I’m sure I read the head unit and media system isn’t covered either might be worth checking the small print before going with JLR warranty...I’m not a 100% but worth checking ... hmmms probably already on it give it 5😂😂😂😂

Like I said I choose all the options on top of core ... think it covers most of the bases and I like the wear and tear clause too... particularly good if people worried about DPF....

Just to add that I have used warranty direct back in 2009. My car was fixed on the same day and without any fuss. As far as you have done the services (as per recommendations) at VAT registered garage, they authorise 'required work' on your car.

I guess the only downside is that they are expensive if your car is high mileage and that comes with the risk associated with high mileage cars.

Speaking of warranties, hats of to Seat who have extended their warranties by 6 months due to lockdown, I am sure JLR will make a similar announcement soon :D.
