Folks,
My query is regarding Range Rover Evoque Dynamicsi4a, 2 lit petrol, 2013 registration, 78k miles.
Couple of days ago after 300 mile trip on high speed road car lost acceleration. Pressing the accelerator did not do anything and I managed to pull over. After recovery to reputed 4x4 garage I have been told that timing chain has failed and engine is not turning. They also told me that they don't repair timing chain and suggested I can get a new engine which is super expensive.
I am not a car expert and looking for some advice/guidance please
1) Can I ask any relevant questions to confirm its a fault with timing chain? They are pretty reputable so no reason not to trust them but just wanted to make sure nothing else have been missed.
2) Has anyone got experience of getting timing chain repaired? Any suggestion on recommended garage, I live in south of Uk. Any indication of likely price range to expect for repair? Does it have to be Range Rover specialist or can any mechanic fix it?
Really appreciate your help - thanks
