Hello everyone.
Looking for a bit of advice. My Range Rover Evoque just had a new battery installed today at my local JLR, however, the Sto/Start still not working.

I assume the guys from JLR did not bother to check even.
I heard some of you mentioned that a new battery installation requires a software update for the battery control module.

Is this the case? I guess those from JLR will claim that would be a different story and will quote for doing it.

thanks

Hopefully a Land Rover dealer would reset the BMS when changing a battery. But I'm not sure if this would effect stop/start anyway. There are lots of reasons why stop/start doesn't kick in - aircon demands etc.

It's worth putting your vehicle details in your profile/signature so people can easily see your Evoque spec. and model year.
Some vehicles have a separate stop/start auxiliary battery for example.

Batteries are often discussed here, it would be interesting to know how much JLR charged to supply/fit a new one if you don't mind saying...

Hi
Yes, I totally agree with you.
My car is a Range Rover Evoque 2012, Manual gearbox, TD Pure.
I have just called the dealer, a bit of bureaucracy there, The Service Manager said the Technician should follow all procedures when instaling a new battery, however, They don't know for sure.

I was advised to do a long trip and hopefully, the Stop/Start should get back working.

I know it’s a new battery, but you never know how long they have been sitting around.

With the little use most cars are getting during this Covid19 event it might be worth sticking it on a battery charger over night.
Once fully charged, if the the SS still doesn’t kick in, “Houston we have a problem!”

Good Luck!

How much did it cost?

Mine was nearly dead, I have tried to charge it but no luck. However, I have just returned from a decent -miles trip and Stop/Start is back to normal.

CBW meant charge the new battery in case it's not fully charged :)
Sounds like the trip has topped it up.

NB I always turn stop/start off!

Sounds like quite a lot of money...
Remember to update your signature with you Evoque spec :)

The AGM battery is about £100-120ish to buy online so the rest will be labour. I wouldn't recommend taking any vehicle to Kwik Fit or Halfrauds etc., find a local independent that specialises in Land Rover as you'll get better prices and much better quality of advice and work done than any of those glorified tyre fitters! (y) N. B. Don't get your tyres fitted at them either... Not if you care about your alloys!
