Hey all taken delivery of my New Dynamic SD4 Auto Coupe in Orkney grey with the Dynamic plus seats. Loving everything at the moment, especially the Dynamic mode, when the instrument cluster lights turn form ice blue to red. Only low rent feel is the rather plasticky key fob, which having come from a recent RRS with it's fab chunky rubberised fob, seems a tad parts bin!. Anyway, otehr than that I have a little annoyance which is after 4 days the boot has started to squeek. I did have this with my previous Sport, which a tighten from the dealer and some WD40 sorted the problem. Just wondering if anyone else has the same experience?

Hi Verducci, I've just noticed a bit of a rattle from the back door area of my Prestige. Nothing too bad but I think investigation with screw driver and WD40will be needed at the weekend !

Hi Jake,
For me definitely the boot and probably the lid. Tried the WD40 which has helped but still some underlying rattling. Not major issue, just annoying on my new toy!
Absolutely loving the way it drives. Admittedly not as cosseting as a Sport with it's air suspension, bigger softer seats and quieter, smoother TDV6; however, a sportier more nimble ride that handles like a hot hatch is just what I wanted!
Causing quite a stir in Henley, akin to driving with a naked super model perched on the bonnet! Rather annoyingly will now have to share this new found limelight with a yummy mummy who seems to have taken delivery of her Black, Prestige 5dr at school drop off!
Other than that only other gripe is a mates comment of why I'm driving the wife's car. Cheeky bugger! Lol.

Hi. I know what you mean about the performance, I've traded down from a Sport TDV8. But the compensation is the handling don't you think. I could defo outrun my TDV8 on twisty roads.

They sure attract attention don't they ? I'm constantly having to clean greasy nose marks off the driver's window !!!

Agree, it'll show a clean pair of heels to most cars bar a full blown sporty hatch/coupe. Mind you in the wet, hard to beat me thinks!
Don't think it needs it but couldn't resist researching a tube available to 244bhp! I imagine JLR will review that as a potential Sportier upgrade to the XF and Evoque. Now that would be quick!

Problem is whilst trying this new found handling consumption's not getting better than 31mpg after a brief flirt with 40mpg on day (cautious driving) 1! You?

It's all fine and well you gents discussing performance - fact is, us 'yummy mummies' rule this one. It is a car designed for women under 5'7 and certainly to be exited in heels! As for people staring - was used to it in the old car - at least they smile as they stare now

Methinks Tootsie and Martinaston are extracting the Mick ! Yummie Mummies indeed ???

Back to the serious stuff, I'm averaging 34mpg at the moment based mainly on a tortuous commute and I'm hoping that will get better as things bed down.

When I sat in the back on a test drive I noticed a rattle from the tailgate area!

Hi Jake,
I'm so hooked with the stereo sound quality that I'm no longer obsessed with the boot squeak which is somewhat intermittent. Still not sure what it is, although a dab of WD on the latch helps, but I'm sure it's something to do with external temperatures!

On the mpg front, having now racked up 2k miles I managed 45mpg on a run to Devon and in terms of head room and mention of accommodation, I'm probably breaking the norm as am 6ft 4' in a coupe without the pano roof. As you'd imagine a few mates have questioned my car choice, but I remind them that in a year I'll still be smiling at its residual value and are also somewhat surprised on headroom and rear accommodation size.

It's also quick enough in a more relaxed manner than more overtly quicker cars.

Guys, rear end rattles are the biggest issue on these cars from a NVH point of view, sorry ur getting them but there are a few starting points.

Spoiler - can creak on normal tarmac like a ticking sound, check the edges of the spoiler dont creak when you push them (only light pressure required) try lubing the joint between the upper and lower spoiler panels

the tailgate can sometimes rub against the drain trough panel (ticking sound similar to spoiler above), u may see witness marks on the panel at the edges, add some felt to the tailgate

the tailgate may need the striker adjust, this is a low knocking tone/creak. or ad felt/grease to striker to test

Is your a 3 door? It might have d-pillar creak, if the sound comes from the LHS rear area, it may need some BIW persuasion, requires all trim panels off LHS area

Headliner clips maybe damaged, if you have a panoramic roof, check the rear clips of the headliner they sit at the rear where the blind retracts, three of them, ususally middle one is damaged

Excuse my ignorance, and there is probably a very obvious answer, but what is NVH? As you are so well informed, could I ask if you work for a LR dealership?

Noise, vibration, and harshness. It's a quite specialist, and I would imagine, frustrating, aspect of engineering and design.
