Received my first Safety Recall Notice Q425 in the post today for 2014 and 2015 models. Does anyone know whether this software upgrade fixes a specific problem, or actually gives you an improvement in gear shift changes (as it says on the tin)?

I've found that there seems to be too much shift lag during acceleration, and I wonder if is going to improve it. Any thoughts?

I have had a txt today to get this done.

My car is going in next week for some work to be carried out and have instructed the dealership not to apply this.

There will be all hell to play if they do.

I have spoken to Tim and he is not happy with this update.

I booked mine in for this recall at the end of the month- I have not experienced any problems with the gearbox so far .
E K regarding your comments , is there a problem with the upgrade ?do you think it's best to leave as it is ?
Cheers

Have a look at XFullFatTims posts over on BabyRR.

He's not impressed at the moment.

He drove his car with the gearbox update from London to Ledbury (Eastnor), then Eastnor up to Stirling.

As my gearbox seems fine at the moment I'm not tempting fate, I did the same on my first Evoque with the battery software update, didn't get that one installed.

In both cases some members encountered problems so chose/choosing to stay clear.

Trust me I'm learning the hard way at the moment with my windscreen,

Thanks for the info everyone and also the link and reference over to the BabyRR forum. Most interesting and I plan to take your advice and not have the change applied at this time. I'm pretty happy with the auto box performance at the moment and i'd hate to do anything to actually deteriorate the experience.

Our Evoque has been at the dealers since mid-August. Software updates followed by turbo being replaced. Now awaiting a replacement 9 speed gearbox. Landrover admit there are 280 other cars also waiting on replacements! OK this is still a small percentage of total 9 speeds produced but does somewhat contradict the "you only hear about the problems" argument. My guess is that if there are 280 waiting for replacements there will be thousands suffering in silence or tolerating ineffective software 'updates'. Undoubtedly the worst car we have ever had and truly a triumph of style over substance. Any potential buyers on here - I can only urge you to avoid, likewise if you have placed an order and can still cancel then give that option serious consideration.

Thanks Printer, yes I got a reply from Ryan,
He confirms q425 is a service action that is designed to remedy instances of poor gearshift and lack of power.
Reports they have received upon completion from owners have been positive with improved performance being reported.

I did suggest he add to the thread as it is a concern to members of EOC
I will probably have it done on the proviso it can be returned to its current. State if unsucessful.

Those of you that have had this software update ,do you have updates or views on it please - not sure wether to cancel my appointment next week as it's working perfectly at the moment I don't want to tempt fate unless there's is a real benefit to the upgrade ˜Š

Just wondered if anyone has had this service recall done and has any feedback yet ,all the threads on this have gone a bit cold .

I get my car back today with the update v3. I think the following things are different:
- if you stop and try to go on it is like you would let fly the clutch sometimes. The car jumps forward
- if you roll down a hill you think the car should shift up now
- if you try to accelerate a little bit you think the car should shift down now
I just drove a few kilometers and will report any news.

Had the latest 9 speed autobox update installed today...and after driving it 10 miles...have to admit the changes in gear are much smoother especially 1st to 2nd...just have to keep my eye on the MPG now...as the last software update made my mpg no longer go above 20mpg...where as before the october software update i was getting 27/28mpg on a 7 mile journey...

Hi Tosh ,I for one would be grateful for your views again on the upgrade in a couple of days if you can .

Just had my Evoque serviced and they carried put - Q425 9 Speed Automatic Transmission Calibration.

Now it is very jerky and clunky when speeding up 3 to 4th and 4 to 5ht gear. They have restored the previous setting which has madethegear changes better but not to how smooth they were before the service.

Anyone else suffering this? The dealer has asked I send "complaint" to them so they can relay to LR.

Mine has been in for a week to have the DPF sensor fixed and Q425 service update done.
As I have said before my gearbox is working perfectly so I have been very reluctant to have it done due to the comments made by members .
So this morning I rang the dealer to ask them if It was done and I did not like it could they put the old programme back ?
The workshop foreman said the old info was wiped so it could not go back as it was.But what I found most disturbing was that if you decide to go against a factory service recall or don't have it and the gearbox goes wrong because the update was not done and you were told of the recall and declined they may not honour the warranty .So in light of that I am not going to give them the opportunity to opt out of any future gearbox warranty issues so I'm going to have it done but I have told them if it's not right they can keep it until they get it right .

Got an email from my dealer yesterday telling me I need to get the Q425 done and can I contact them to arrange this . Not sure after reading the posts on here that I want it done ?!!!! Not had any issues with my gear box so far and don't like the sound of the changes the new program seam to give , but if you don't get it done and this interferes with warranty what are you supposed to do ?!!!! Will have to call dealer and see what they have to say .
