Other than removing the rear bumper assmbly has anybody worked out a simpler sytem to replace a damaged rear foglight or is it not possible

I don't believe there is - the rear crash bar gets in the way of one of the torx fixings on each light.
Seems to be a bad design, but I guess these cars are built up in sub assemblies first. The front fog lights look like they'd also be a pain to remove.
I put smoked rear fog lights on mine and removed the bumper - video on YouTube shows you how. You do have to be quite brutal getting it on and off but I didn't damage anything, although another pair of hands would've been useful.
