Yes the chap who I’ve been recommended says a compulsory £350 correction is necessary on any new car, as even factory fresh the paintwork isn’t in great shape.

Then it’s £400 for the ceramic coating plus extra for the alloys, brakes and callipers. Too many decisions!

That’s a lot when you take into account it still needs washed and dried as well.. I just send other half out once a month to wax it ... he just washes it weekly normally ... he uses auto glym and then a sealer...but understandably being Veterans age must be harder to wax and polish ... takes him a hour to get his shoes on ... but now only half an hour after I suggested a L&R sticker😜

Absolutely right. The ceramic coating doesn’t stop it needing washing, just makes it easier to clean. I’m told though it also acts as a good barrier to bird droppings.

I have real issues with bird droppings, living near the coast. Not having a garage, I have to check our cars every hour or two (in itself a real chore). With all the cars I’ve had, and I’m sure the RRE FE won’t be any different, despite getting any off within this time, it often leaves a cloudy mark on the top coat, impossible to remove without specialist attention - usually a DA polisher will suffice

Same issue when it’s parked up outside at work. I can’t check the car paintwork that regularly, but have come back after work to find the same problem. I never leave any on the paintwork any longer than a day at the office. That’s the reason I’ve wondered about getting the forthcoming RRE coated.

Is the RRE paint very durable, I’m not sure?

I will shop around to see what other detailers charge. I have found one who charges £500, but does the work outside. From what I’ve read,
shouldn’t be done outside.

"Checking every hour or two" - that sounds like hard work!

As things are so bad, if it was me, I would be looking at having a clear PPF (paint protection film) applied - even if only to the horizontal panels.

From my understanding of talking to detailers, JLR paintwork is very soft (as are all water based paints) and the factory finish isn't that good so benefits from a machine polish (my car had two nibs that also had to be fixed).

The ceramic coat has to cure so this is best done indoors to minimise contamination.

Have you considered ppf?

That’ll be me then!

Were your Evoques supplied recently?

My dealer was insistent no owners handbook is supplied with new cars now.

You could laminate the pages individually and make a cover to protect from seagulls with the spare manual 😂😂😂😂

Got mine at the beginning of this year.
Maybe for the MY 2020.5 they’ve done away with the paper manual. It must be to offset the carbon footprint that’s the size of a football field because of the dpf 😳🤣
