Hi folks, my wife's been a member for a couple years so thought I'd join up too. And yes, I have some questions I'm hoping some of you may be able to help with :)

We have a 2017 Td4 Autobiography with 70k.

Over the last few weeks the car developed a whine/drone and it sounded like from the rear. No play in bearings but a 3 are a bit rough sounding. This week it has started getting the error " 2 wheel drive only, traction reduced" Took it to a trusted mechanic mate who has suggested taking it to a specialist! 馃槻

He's hearing noises from the all over. Front diff, rear diff and the bearings but he's convinced a wheel bearing is not the main problem. He also reckons there 30mm of play in the front shafts.

Anyone had similar issues before I start chasing what it could be?

Thabks in advance

Kev

Hey Kev
Welcome to the EOC, great spec, the Mrs must be very happy especially when you have sorted the strange noises.
I do wonder if it is something to do with the Haldex on the rear diff, that can certainly throw up a two wheel drive fault.
Has your mechanic read the fault codes to give a little direction?
The shafts and diffs are pretty reliable, as are the wheel bearings.
Noises are really difficult to identify when in the car, more so on a forum

I have similar circumstance, I have been a member for over 18 months, and my wife has a question.

She wants to know where the diesel filler cap is 馃槓

Oh, sorry, no, she鈥檚 just told me, she doesn鈥檛 care where the filler cap is apparently 馃樀鈥嶐煉

Also an occasional whine from the passenger seat area, but only when the wife is in the car 馃檮

p.s. hope you get your problem sorted, Keviswatt it does sound like a Haldex issue possibly.
