2014 SD4 Dynamitic auto- just recently got the above codes, out of nowhere got stuck in park and stated gearbox fault. After waiting 40 mins it reset and was off again. Every few days since gets stuck in park but once driving drives fine. Just been told needs a new gearbox 4.5k!! Only don’t 80k mileages and as I say drives ok. Looking on line im not convinced the gearbox is dead if still driving. States in code hydraulic senor, could this be as simple as oil? Just seen post saying been told the same by main dealers and it’s then turned out to be an auxiliary battery or an electrical issues. Any view be gratefully received as don’t have 4.5k and tbh not sure I believe LR main dealer and tbh never dealt with such rude people. Thanks in advance.

You might find that JLR dealers treat Evoque owners as 'the poor relation' - has happened to me before.
Is you car a 6 or 9 speed model, they changed in 2014? If it's 6 speed, then you will have an auxiliary battery which if low can bring up errors. These are located underneath the passenger glovebox and are quite small - found on ebay for about £12. If it's 9 speed you won't have one of these.
Doesn't sound mechanical to me, as it does operate properly at times, but as you say maybe needs the oil changing!
I would be tempted to take it to a good autogearbox specialist who should have the experience & diagnostic equipment to sot the problem out.
I changed my aux battery last year after some gearbox faults appeared - haven't had any bother since.

Thank you for replying. I’m finding this a nightmare to deal with no one seems interested unless you want pay for a new gearbox! Sure they see the single female coming with no idea!! I have discovered it’s got a major leak of what I believe to be transmission oil as I took for a second option who topped the transmission oil and told me the engine cover was soaked in oil and he agreed I need a new gearbox. What I’m finding hard to believe is I paid a garage good money to maintain my car as I know nothing so assumed they would check all required to keep my car healthy and running. Only to be told that the gearbox oil is my responsibility? I would have a clue and haven’t every seen an leaks but did notice on once of there service Advicer that sprinkle of oil on something or other, so shouldn’t that I got them checking for leaks ? Does anyone know if this is part of a service or not? Being told so many different things some say lifetime oil others say needs changing every 40k? All I know is I have a leak and being told my box has gone! Why does the car drive fine and only get the message I’d I do a short journey then I just wait 20 mins and we are off again! So confused and just don’t know who or what to believe.. please help me understand ??🙈🙈

Hi, if the oil leak happened suddenly then no-one could have spotted it, but at service a slower oil leak should have been spotted, given 80% of the cost of a service is "Checks" that would be one of those Checks.

It's lifetime oil, (well maybe), but not if it leaks out... No or low oil leads to faults and eventually damage.

It probably works for a while after a reset, until something is detected awry and it goes into safe mode.

Did it work ok after topping up? maybe a gearbox specialist just needs to fix the leak!

You may find a gearbox specialist that will refit a reconditioned box cheaper than a new one or repairing yours, if you can't afford a fully new box.

Thanks for the reply.. I have advisory saying splashes of oil so surely that means and leak and in all those service checks they couldn’t locate it! Just don’t get that surely they should of looked harder! The only option to me is have this box reconditioned as that 3.5k just gutted that’s more of a loss when you think paying a garage to maintain your car would!!! Once again thankyou for replying
