I’ve received an email from LV= saying my insurance premium will rise considerably this year. They can no longer offer a competitive quote. Despite covering 1400 miles since new & having an option fitted tracker they say it’s due to the high level of thefts of this model.
I chose LV= as I know other owners recommend them due to the comprehensive list of items covered.
can anyone recommend an alternative insurer that in particular covers any issues with the pano roof please?

That's funny - I've just had my renewal e-mail from LV= and they're proposing a reduction to £213.30 as against £239.05 last year. I opted out of the automatic renewal feature so I wonder if that makes them "sharpen their pencil" when quoting?

I’m 60. Have 18 years NCB. Sole driver. Clean license.
I’ve checked on gocompare, moneysupermarket, comparethemarket as well as those that don’t advertise on comparison websites.
My average quote was around £780.
My lowest quotes come in at a little under £600.
Must be that I live in Birmingham! (B13)

It seems very competitive out there at present. Just renewed with Aviva through Confused.com at £192.02!

I'm sure all Evoque drivers have 70% bonuses, no claims loads and a pointless licence and so I guess it's geographical rating, so 🤞for my LV quote when I get the car.

My previous insurer - Privilege decided to put my renewal premium up by £80 despite my circumstances being exactly the same as the previous year. No convictions, no accidents, more than 25 years NCD, over 60 years old. They couldn’t justify why they were increasing it, and couldn’t reduce the premium, so I changed to Darwin who were over £60 cheaper.

premium has increased almost £300 for my 2017 HSE, with LV. Always like LV but wonder who else will offer same quality of service? Any suggestions?

I did go through several of the comparison websites: gocompare, comparethemarket, moneysupermarket etc as some were actually cheaper than others even with the same insurance company.
gocompare offer a £250 to cover your excess in case of a claim. confused, offered £20 Halfords eVoucher. So compare the offers as well as the price.
In the end I (like many on this site) went with Darwin Insurance.
I opted to purchase through Confused on this occasion.
Don’t forget also that your job title can make a big difference and if you have another driver added on that can bring the price down funnily enough.
Best time to get quotes is 21 days before your current on runs out.
30 days beforehand or less than 21 days can see significant increases.
If you wait until the day before you’ll end up paying literally hundreds more!

I have always found that LV offer the most comprehensive level of cover and my renewel premium was actually lower this year, even though I changed to a much more expensive car.

I agree with Parv. One of my sons is in the software industry and his company sells algorithms to insurance companies based on trawled data from the public over many years. In this particular instance, when the insurance company asks when your previous insurance runs out, always tell it 20 to 25 days time! Mostly - your quote will be cheaper. Adding your driving licence number, too - helps. It allows the company to see the 'true' you when it comes to traffic violations! Provided you tell the truth ALWAYS...to insurance companys, prevents difficulties during a claim.

I insure with SAGA, who use LV= to underwrite the policy. LV= have recently sold their general insurance business (I think this includes motor insurance) to Allianz, and are negotiating to sell the rest of the business. This may affect their quotes perhaps? Insurers do have major changes from time to time - I used to get a good deal with Co-op until they tried to double the premium and couldn't match competitors. They had obvs. decided they didn't want my business.
It's worth bearing in mind that the policies sold through Meercat and others may be different to the ones sold direct by the insurers. Read the small print and make sure you get what you need (in my case that's free European cover).
Usually adding a partner will lower the premium, although not, for some reason, in my case.
There are also brokers who specialise in Land Rovers - Adrian Flux is a name often mentioned.

To be honest a lot of folk go with LV because of the pano roof cover so LV may have found themselves with a large amount of evoque thefts to pay out on so in a way insuring with LV has turned round and bit us, i guess thats whats happened anyway- maybe possibly it depends

My LV renewal was about £30 cheaper than last year so will stick with them for now even though Aviva were slightly cheaper for same cover and pano roof.

Just checked and see that SAGA are now using Covea as their insurers. Never heard of them before.
