At 68,000 miles my 2015 evoque has been diagnosed with a stretched timing chain. Had the car from new and its always kept the service upto date.
I've had a slight rattle on start up in the morning for the past couple of months. if the car has not been started for a week the noise last longer. Just had the quote today from an independent LR specialist £2650.
Anyone else had a similar problem.
Feeling pi55ed at the mo.
Looks like time to trade in.

I wonder how many dealerships actually change the oil. Basic servicing is usually the apprentices job. And if you believe what the manufacturers say, 21000 mile or two years, why wouldnt said apprentice believe his employer and simply reset the service light. Too many timing chain failures for a coincidence surely :sneaky:

Oh no that is shocking news on both accounts.
btw no one would have been surprised if JLR had quoted £55k for the work.

But it‘s a terrible price being quoted for both of you.

£5,500 that hurts, have they offered any contribution towards the cost.
i think I will trade mine in.

I take it there's no 3rd party warranties on both cars? Luckily we had one because LR quoted £2700

These warranties are pretty scary! You pay all this money and still might not be safe :(

Don't know about timing chain, but my LR extended warranty (on a FL2) refused to pay for a worn timing belt adjuster. Said it was normal wear and tear.

I have been told by a very good mechanic friend that any Diesel engine should have an oil & filter change once a year irrespective of milage, I only bought my evoque in March and 4 half yr old looking at service history it’s had one oil change after the first small service in 4 yrs which going on mileage is correct this isn’t right & could of been the cause of the faulty timing chain I’ll be having the change every year now as I have with all my other cars
