Glad to hear you enjoy it.
Pardon the silly question - how does it heat up? Do you just push a button - can it be done remotely? I thought about one, but thought that it probably is a little excessive as it doesn't get that cold - would you still add it as an option now if you could change your mind?

In Belgium the cold climate pack consists of:
- heated steering wheel
- heated front window
- heated wipers
- heated front seats

One of the reasons I ordered evoque was the option of heated steering wheel. I am expecting it to be extremely useful especially in Raynaud's Phenomenon/ disease in which hand and feet are over-sensitive to cold and actually become purple / white, numjb, painful and almost non-functional.Even with normal hands you can properly hold steering for at least 10 minutes after you start driving. Also it surprises me that most cars don't have the heated wind-screen option .

Hi Tan
I think Ford own the worldwide patent for heated windscereens and only those companies that have been, or are, part of their group are able to offer the option.

I have never had a heated steering wheel and still can't make up my mind whether to add it to my options. Is it a gimmick or do you really think it is worthwhile?

I wish I had ordered the heated steering wheel now. It's cold outside and my hands are freezing. I don't complain much about it but my wife's hands are even colder. I wanted it on the car but my wife kept nagging me not to spend more than what is needed. Trust me, £180 ain't gonna make much of a difference to a £40k car (0.45%), so I would say if you're thinking about it then go for it, because you'll only regret it later all for that measly £180.
Does anyone know if it can be retro fitted?

I think you can retro fit a heated steering wheel as there are some videos around showing you how.

E.g: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18JSMqL0O84

BTW, we had discussions over whether or not to have this option and in the end I added it as the one in my current car hasn't got one and it's been darn cold over the past few weeks.

Got the lux pack and the dynamic plus pack then added homelink and heated steering wheel (for my wife) and have to say the steering wheel is my favourite thing in the whole car. Thought I would just have it on for 5 minutes in the morning and then switch it off. But it is now the first thing I do when I get in the car and leave it on the whole time. Well worth having if you are considering it. Has been fantastic this last couple of weeks.

Is it possible to have it retrofitted properly, possibly at a dealer, and not have to do it yourself? I don't want to ruin the car!

I have to say I thought a heated steering wheel was a bit 'gimicky' to say the least. But I have read so many positve comments and not a single negative response, I actually added it to my spec. One of the great things about reading all the comments on this forum before ordering the car.
