Hello everyone, I'm Alex, and I am as new as a newbe can get. Just got my hands on a 2012 Evoque Pure last week down here on this rock in the southern caribbean and it's a Grey 2.0L petrol auto awd. Never owned a RR before so i am new to this vehicle as it gets. It is doing just around 56000 KM (35000 miles). My wife has been talking about how much she loves the look of the evoque since like the day we met lol. So as this one came up for sale by a family friend i decided to grab it and surprise her.
So lets get a bit into some details, this buity has had one owner (an older gentleman who practically drove it to his office and favourite golf course then back home) and was purchased new from our local LR dealer. I managed to get the service history which was all basic service items for the first three years. After the warranty expired the guy decided to have it serviced by our local LR specialist as his cost was more favourable than the stealers.
Before purchase I tried to do some research and found this friendly and very knowlegeable community that gave me a lot of good info on what to look for during the viewing and test drive. The vehicle drove nicely, smooth, no noses, no error codes, no rust, very clean interior and exterior etc. I asked the guy what was done recenty and what issues he had to deal with in the past.
He said that the battery was replaced about a year ago, new brake pads (front and rear) and oil change done a few months ago. also installed a set of new TOYO tires.
Issues were leaking ac evaporator that was replaced 2 years ago, radiator/condenser fans were replaced around the same time.
After the test drive i felt satisfied and decided to purchase. He gave me the contact info for the LR specialist and said to give him a call if any issues should arise.
Brought the car home, put a mini christmas tree on the hood and scored some points with the wife (hopefully for a few years but realistically probably a few weeks or days if i'm lucky lol).
Anyway, after driving it for a few days i noticed the Ac was not really cooling to my liking during the day (it gets to around 34C out in the sun) and i was hearing a hissing sound now and then behind the dash somewhere. So i called up the LR guy and he was happy to come to my house that evening. He had a look, checked the gas pressure and said it was a bit on the low side and gave it a top up. After that the cooling improved and i have not heard the hissing sound since. He told me to monitor and report if anything changes.
After he finished with the ac i got him into a conversation on what other works he did on the vehicle in the past and he did say he changed the fans and the evaporator due to a leak two years ago. He then went on to say that about a month ago he replaced the rear diff..... Reason being there was some nose or clicking sound coming from it while driving. He said it was a very expensive job and not to worry as everything was done using a brand new diff etc. Not sure why the previous owner failed to mention this, my guess would be he did not want to scare me away. Oh well i guess having a new rear diff could be a positive thing. I hope it holds out lol.
Now that i have outlined the history, I would really appreciate for you gents and ladies to help me out with some general service items that I am starting to reseach. This includes timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, transmission oil transfer case oil, front diff oil changes. From the info i have at hand i believe those items were never done before. I have not gotten the chance to search on here for those items so if anyone can help me out it would be really great. I am guessing because of the age it is probably right around the corner. Also any part numbers for any of the items would help me a lot to find the correct parts.
All that aside, like i said so far this beauty drives really nice and smooth, very powerful, very resposive and sporty around the corners and most importantly the wife loves it.
Sorry for the looooong post, looking forward to any advice, tips, comments. Cheeeers!
