Everyone!
fiest timer as always, but I have a manual gearbox failure on way home as I couldn’t select a gear and neither will the car move any further than getting stuck on the motorway.
Anyway car has been towed back home and it’s confirmed that it needs a new gearbox. I sort of new at some point I would have to change the gearbox anyway as it makes a lot of noise when selecting a gear level up or down and especially when selecting a reverse gear and it’s stiff as well.
I have manage to locate a secondhand gearbox on eBay and I want know if it requires coding after the change.
My reason is cos one mechanic is charging me £250 to do the change and the Land Rover independent mechanics wants £400 to change the gearbox . And they are telling me that it will need coding and all these crap so that is why they are charging £400.
Can someone advise and confirm if it’s true.
thanks all
