I was
driving my Evoque home tonight and had a reason to put the hazards on to alert
the cars behind me to slow down. In my confusion I pressed the on / off button
instead of the hazard lights and the car switched itself off and the power
steering stiffened up etc. I realized my error and quickly re-pressed the
button and everything restarted straight away. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

I was surprised
that you could turn the car off while in gear and travelling at speed. I also appreciate
that it was stupid mistake, but I don't think I will be the last one to do
this. Both of the buttons are red and fairly close to each other.

I will certainly take more care next time if I want to use the hazards.

Yes, I'm sure I was as I was trying to slow down.
I'm amazed it allowed me to turn the car off.

Dangerous. In your position I think I would contact the dealer or JLR customer services as surely this should not be the case. In the unlikely position that this has been overlooked, I would imagine a swift recall would be in order, and hopefully before someone is seriously injured by doing the same.

it is the same thing with normal key cars, you can turn the keys while doing 100MPH on highandand the engine will switch off
Just dont forget to switch to N before you attempt to re-start it again ! :)
