Hi everyone
New here so go easy if I’m in the wrong place.
I’ve just bought a 2019 first edition and when I’ve got it home and trying to delete the previous owners profile it says “content inhibited” it also says the same thing when I try and set up one for myself.
Spoke to the dealership I bought it from and they said it would need taking in for someone to look at it as they’ve never heard of it. My local dealership said that I can take it in but there would be a charge even though it’s under warranty.
Does anybody have any ideas if I could do it myself and if so, how?
Thanks in advance and sorry for the long winded post.

I think there's an option in the vehicle settings that allows you to reset all settings? I wonder if that would do it.

I’d take it back and tell them to sort it or give me money back.

They will do it they’ve said they will. The issue I have is the dealership I bought from is a fair distance and I work away quite a lot so I’m pushed for time. It would be more convenient if I can do it myself.

Warranty issues can be dealt with by your nearest JLR dealer.

I agree, sounds more like a Sales issue to me.
You would think clearing any previous owners details would be on their checklist!

My dealer had removed the previous owner's data from my Evoque, so I guess all dealers aren't the same.

I'm assuming you bought the car from a JLR dealer, I'm also guessing the car is still registered to the previous owner on the JLR server.
At handover to you the dealer should have asked you for an email address & temporary password to set up ICTP (it's only a 5min job on their computer). If they didn't do that you have a security issue as the previous owner can still potentially access position, lock/unlock, start your car via the Remote app.
I believe they could still set it up for you remotely - assuming the above guess is correct.

If you went to a more local dealer I guess they would need proof of ownership, but would expect the issue to be sorted FOC (unless they really don't want your future custom).
I would also be inclined to get customer services involved if it proves to be a problem, it sounds like you are not getting proper service from either dealer.

They never cleared the previous owners details on mine, I saw all her trips, where she lived and all that jazz and while there is already a loaded profile it wouldn't let me create my own so took it to my local dealer as the supplying dealer was 2.5hrs drive away, local dealer salesman sorted it in 10mins on his desk computer, deleted previous - entered mine jobs a good un, this is by no means warranty work or chargable and should have been done before selling to you, IMO it should form part of the 165 point check or at least during a PDI check

When I bought my Evoque it was still registered to the old owner as I couldn’t create a profile for the VIN.
I got in touch with customer services and emailed them a copy of my sales paperwork as proof of ownership and they reset it remotely for me. May be worth trying them first as it’s only a phone call/email away.

The original salesman should have sorted this for you... Have JLR not heard of GDPR?!

Ring up the Stealers you bought it from and ask them to remove the previous owner from your car. They do that on their system, probably Topix. Then they take an email from you and set you up as the new owner. You have to then unlock the car and press the Maintenance button above your head for about 10 secs to sync the car with the system and the Stealer should be able to confirm it has synced successfully. All done in one phonecall.

My car was new. Recently getting notification on profile symbol that there is a number of notifications- but when I go into it it says “content inhibited” - anyone know how to rectify?
