Hi,
I'm going to fit the new bright finish treadplates. The first step is remove the hood relase handle. It says "For additional information, please refer to the official Workshop Manual. Front Left Treadplate (501-05) ", can anyone tell me how this is done?

The bonnet release is in the passenger footwell, it is spring loaded and releases the catch under the bonnet and you just then have to operate the safety catch to fully open-not sure of your question to be honest!

I can’t see the need to remove the bonnet release handle to replace the tread plates. Then again, what do I know?

The release handle is now down on the doorjam on the MY20 so it's part of the trim.
@Scottish Don, if you register for Land Rover TOPIX as an independent operator you can access all the instructions for accessory fitting including the tread plates.
Go here: Home | TOPIx
The once registered put in the last 8 letters/numbvers of your vin.
Once in then click on "browse all" and then click on the "documents" tab which will bring up all the accessory fitting instructions.

Yes.
But TOPIX is also handy for outstanding campaigns/updates on your vehicle too.
I would try lifting the handle up and seeing if the plastic cover slides off.
