Hi guys.. does anyone know how I would find out if my car has android auto? I've tried to plug my phone in to the USB and nothing happens so I'm guessing it doesn't... it's a 2018 SE Tech and the stereo has the buttons down the side.

I've called JLR and spoke to two people. One said the 2018 should already have it and its just a case of an update and then the second person was bringing up a completely different car with my reg but then said the 2018 model won't have it.

hey,

I have a 2018 SE Tech and can conform that you car wont support Android Auto. The in console USB wont do anything except allow you to play your media via the factory fit audio (incontrol)

If you want Andrroid Auto you will need to install (or have installed) an aftermarket Wireless Carplay/Android Auto device. It sits inline with your existing incar system and via a long key press allows you to toggle between it and the standard car system. They both effectively use the same screen.

Have a search on here for wireless carplay and you will find lots of content that will help you as well as lots of Youtube videos about it.

There are two factory fit systems Bosch (typically earlier models) and Harman Kardon (typically the later facelif L538 models from around 2018) so yours could be either i guess but more likely a Harman system. If so it fits under the drivers seat.
