Hi guys,

Cracking forum, unfortunately my first post is rather a negative one.

I’ve just purchased a 2012 Evoque 2.2 SD4 Dynamic.. it’s done 103k miles & has a good service history.

After buying the car I quickly booked it in for its timing belt service & an oil change at our local LR specialist.

I noticed today that at around 1700/1800rpm there is a rattle/tapping noise from what I think is the timing belt cover, the noise comes from the top of this area.

The car is going in on Weds so I will make them aware of this noise, but I just wondered in the meantime if you guys knew of anything it may be or any common issues that would give a noise in this area?

Many thanks in advance for any replies/opinions.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Good to see that you have your car details loaded. (y) (y) (y)
shame to hear that your first post should be on the negative side, but hopefully one of the more experienced members will soon be able to give advice to solve your question.

Just had my timing belt done on my 2012, but no rattle, although I did have a low coolant warning immediately after it was done, I would guess if its new since the belt change then it is just a cover and they should sort it easily.

Note, you can get a squeaky rattle in damp weather when you first start it up, that quite common for the 2.2D, soon goes after a minute or so, but can be quite alarming.
