‘Restricted Performance’ issue - HELP please!

I hope someone can help. I have a RRE, 2012 Dynamic 2.2 d.
Whilst out driving the ‘Restricted Performance’ warning came on and only allowed the car to drive up to around 40mph. My trusted mechanic put the car through his diagnostics and the faults came up as p006a intermittent. The air flow meter and air temperature sensors were at fault as when tested had no value, so he replaced them both but still got ‘Restricted Performance’ p006a intermittent, however, it was showing up as a map and mass sensor before and now just showing up as p006a. When he removed the air temperature sensor he did notice a build up of carbon and through a prossess of elimination, checked that all air pipes were sealed and that there were no leaks. He also performed a forced DPF Regen in hopes of burning off some of the build up but the RP warning came on again.
He thinks the next step would be to look at the EGR and the inlet manifold to check for leaks, however, advised to go to Land Rover and just put it through their diagnostics so we know ‘exactly’ what’s wrong as they have the precise equipment and know how to identify.
Before I use the main stealer, does anyone have any additional advice as I’m out of warranty? Many thanks.

I have just been advised by a local mechanic that my turbo possibly requires replacing after showing the restricted performance error and experiencing a loss gradual loss of power.

After reading up on the restricted performance error causes on the forum I was and still am hoping it is just one of the following known causes that have been stated previously and that I have listed below.

  • Low battery voltage
  • DPF Sensor issue
  • Engine control module requires reflashing
  • Split in turbo hose / Split in intercooler to throttle hose
  • EGR valve sticking

I do have a 6 month RAC warranty which I hope will cover the repair cost should it be the turbo.

The mechanic has had the car for a week today (providing very little updates in that time) only saying he has emailed someone else to see if they can repair it.

Just wondering if anyone that have had to have their turbo replaced could let me know how long roughly the repair takes and also are they likely to be covered under an RAC warranty?

Thanks in advance.
