So last night i was out and about, well just went to the chippy actually but took a 5 mile detour as i wanted to try out my adaptive lights so flicked them into auto an hey presto i'm amazed, firstly the LEDs have a very bright white crisp sort of light and the high beam assist worked a treat instantly switching between dipped and main at the slightest hint of oncoming headlights so it didn't get chance to annoy oncoming drivers, it just worked as they said it should. If i ever buy a brand new car be it another RRE or any other then i'm defo speccing adaptive LEDs, if its a used like this one then i'll hunt one down, i love my LEDs

To be honest, I don’t find a great deal of benefit in the adaptive (cornering) function. LEDs themselves aren’t really much different to good Xenons either. But I love the auto high-beam assist!

The new matrix LEDs, that turn off individual bulbs to avoid dazzling oncoming cars but otherwise leave high-beam on permanently, might be nice. Suspect they’ll be added to the Evoque in the next model, as they’re on the new RRS, FFRR and Velar now.

Mrs T has the new dynamic LEDs in her CX-3 ... they take a bit of getting used to and learly drivers coming towards the car don’t ‘understand’ them as she gets flashed a fair bit, but you can clearly see the beam patterns shifting around to keep other vehicles out of the pattern. The weirdest being behind a car and the high beams going down each side lighting up the sides of the road.

Considering the price point of the CX-3 there is some pretty good tech in it (HUD, blind spot monitor etc) - makes me wonder sometimes just why the JLR product is so costly - oh yeah, it’s a Range Rover!

I have to admit being followed by cars with the adaptive LED lights and finding them to be very annoying as they cast a range of Shadows and lights to the side of the vehicle that are not normally there and can be slightly off putting on the country lanes.

I've got these.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dvPZ3H1Vm4

The stop the beam pattern splitting if you are on lit roads.

Kron, I've often wondered how they looked from another drivers perspective. From the Drivers point of view these lights are fantastic.

I've always fancied them and think they are fantastic technology and when the chance arises I will probably spec them, but from another perspective they are a nightmare lol.

Would also say that when being followed by them on the country roads you tend to get blinded in by reflection in the side mirrors where they don't quite adapt to the bends and the vehical in front quick enough.

Still in sure we will all get used to it as the technology becomes more common place.

I remember being an early adapter of Xenon/HIDs and always being flashed as they were so much brighter and whiter than standard bulbs. Now it's just the norm lol
